Apple iPhone News
The launch of the Apple iPhone in Europe this week is expected to put a lot of pressure on Rogers Wireless here in Canada. Right now, the data rates for wireless phones with Rogers are ridiculous. It costs a small fortune to get a reasonable amount of data, and unlimited data packages are not available.

European plans will cost roughly $70 Canadian for unlmited data. A plan similar to this in Canada will cost around $150.00. Canadain data rates will need to fall if the iPhone is to be a success.

“Apple clearly has a schedule and a plan for their rollout on a worldwide basis,” said Robert Bruce, president of Rogers’ wireless division, early last week.

There are rumors we could see the iPhone in Canada with Rogers very soon, but until we see Rogers data rates drop this won’t happen.
